Community Animal Welfare

GVF is committed to improving the lives of community (i.e., feral) and rescue dogs and cats by supporting small to medium sized nonprofit clinics and organizations whose work has both an immediate impact and an impact in the future. For example, supporting the expansion of TNR (trap/neuter-spay/release) efforts affects the quality of life of the animal (immediate) and also reduces population growth (future). We also look for opportunities to fund grants that serve as leverage to achieve a large goal rather than operational expenses. For example, kickstarting a capital campaign or funding that permits the culmination of a major project or undertaking. GVF is also interested in broader initiatives that support community training seminars and clinics, and travel programs to bring veterinary care staff from low/middle income countries to train in or observe well run clinics in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Please note that GVF does not fund individuals.

    Spaying & Neutering Programs

Spaying and neutering are fundamental to community animal welfare. We support nonprofit clinics providing these services to control cat and dog populations, and improve the health and well being of these animals.

    Low or No-cost Veterinary Care

We seek to reduce financial barriers to ownership of rescue dogs and cats by supporting nonprofit clinics that provide free or low veterinary care for low income rescue pet owners, including vaccinations, routine checkups, dental care, parasite prevention, and chipping.

    Adoption Services & Networks

Community cats and dogs deserve a warm, safe place to live with food and care. We support local and regional non-profit animal adoption centers and networks to help give these animals a forever home.
